What kind of structure will you be joining as an External Category Analyst?
We are recruiting, on behalf of one of our industrial-sector clients, an External Category Analyst to join a dynamic Procurement team, working closely with strategic suppliers, technical experts, and project managers.
External Category Analyst: What will your missions and responsibilities be?
As an External Category Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing spend data, supplier performance, and strategic sourcing opportunities across one or more purchasing categories. You will contribute to cost optimization, supplier risk management, and overall supply chain performance improvement.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Procurement Data Analysis
- Collect, consolidate, and analyze internal data related to procurement, contracts, suppliers, spend, and performance
- Identify improvement levers to enhance competitiveness by category
- Provide strategic sourcing recommendations
- Support to Category Managers
- Assist in the development of sourcing strategies for specific segments or purchasing families
- Help prepare RFQs, benchmarks, and supplier market analyses
- Conduct studies on supplier risk, impact, dependency, or market concentration
- Supplier Performance Monitoring
- Develop and track KPIs (quality, lead times, cost, service)
- Support continuous improvement of supplier relationships through performance reviews
- Prepare regular reports for the Procurement Department and relevant stakeholders
- Process & Tool Improvement
- Contribute to the evolution of analytical tools (Power BI, ERP, sourcing platforms, etc.)
- Collaborate with technical, quality, legal, finance, and supply chain departments
- Promote best procurement practices with a focus on compliance and ethics
What profile and skills are required for this External Category Analyst role?
Education : Master’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or equivalent
Experience
- 2 to 5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or performance consulting
- Previous experience in an industrial environment (energy, infrastructure, process industries, etc.) is a plus
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Excel, Power BI, and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent)
- Strong data analysis capabilities, including TCO calculations and scenario modeling
- Excellent writing and summarization skills
- Ability to read and interpret contracts, technical specifications, and financial data
Language : Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential
