What kind of structure will you be joining as an Asset Management Risk Engineer?

 

We are recruiting, on behalf of one of our industrial clients, for a critical integrity project in Toamasina (Madagascar), an experienced Asset Management Risk Engineer, specialized in Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) and equipment performance management.

 

Asset Management Risk Engineer – What will your missions and responsibilities be?

 

You will be responsible for deploying and optimizing asset integrity programs, identifying and assessing technical risks related to equipment, particularly through the RBI methodology. You will support maintenance, inspection, and continuous improvement activities in a demanding industrial environment.

 

Your main responsibilities include:

 

Risk Evaluation and Analysis:

 

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk assessments (corrosion, fatigue, erosion, etc.)
  • Perform FMEA, criticality, and failure mode analyses
  • Maintain risk matrices and related visualizations
  • Calculate failure probabilities and consequences in accordance with API 580/581 standards

 

RBI Program Implementation:

 

  • Develop inspection plans based on risk profiles
  • Define appropriate methods, frequencies, and locations for inspections
  • Coordinate activities with field inspection teams and ensure data integrity
  • Manage and update the RBI database

 

Inspection Data Analysis:

 

  • Identify degradation trends, interpret inspection results and assess their impact
  • Draft analysis reports and recommend corrective actions
  • Monitor the implementation of recommendations and ensure their effectiveness

 

Risk Mitigation Strategies:

 

  • Propose risk mitigation strategies (operational changes, maintenance, specific inspections)
  • Contribute to the development of preventive maintenance plans
  • Participate in Root Cause Analyses (RCA) in case of failure

 

Collaboration and Operational Support:

 

  • Work closely with mechanical, process, and corrosion departments
  • Participate in risk review meetings and train internal teams on the RBI methodology
  • Provide support to the Asset Management team and produce periodic reports (monthly/quarterly)

 

What profile and skills are required for this Asset Management Risk Engineer position?

 

Education: Engineering degree in mechanical, chemical engineering, or a related field

 

Experience:

 

  • Proven experience in asset management, risk assessment, and RBI programs
  • Knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, NDT/NDE techniques, and materials science
  • Strong command of API, ASME, OSHA standards, and RBI software tools

 

Key Skills:

 

  • Strong analytical mindset, rigor, and autonomy
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to draft technical reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), RBI software (API 580/581), and visualization tools
  • Preferred certifications: API 571, API 580, CMRP, CRE
  • Language: Fluency in professional English

 

Assignment Conditions:

 

  • Location: Madagascar
  • Rotation: 8 weeks on site / 4 weeks off
  • Covered conditions: accommodation, meals, local transport, safety, and training provided
  • Remuneration: daily rate based on profile, under a technical assistance contract
  • Provided equipment: IT equipment, specialized software, mobilization arrangements, and HSE compliance processes
