What kind of structure will you be joining as an environmental engineer?

 

We are recruiting, on behalf of our client, an environmental engineer – impact assessment & environmental monitoring (M/F) for a permanent position based in Lyon.

 

Environmental engineer – impact assessment & environmental monitoring (M/F): What will your missions and responsibilities be?

 

You will join the environmental team and work on linear infrastructure projects (roads, railways, tramways, cycle paths…) at various stages: design, construction, and environmental monitoring.

 

Your main responsibilities will include:

 

Environmental Assessment:

  • Conduct environmental impact assessments in compliance with the European Water Framework Directive (WFD) and French regulations
  • Draft regulatory documentation: environmental authorizations, noise impact studies, etc.
  • Analyze environmental impacts (biodiversity, soil, water, air)

 

Environmental Management and Monitoring:

  • Develop and follow up on Environmental Management Plans (EMP/PGES)
  • Implement and monitor corrective and compensatory measures
  • Support construction sites to ensure environmental and regulatory compliance

 

Public Consultation and External Relations:

  • Participate in public consultations and stakeholder engagements
  • Communicate with local authorities, regulatory bodies, NGOs, and specialized consultancies

 

Technical Advice and Expertise:

  • Support project managers in integrating environmental considerations
  • Maintain continuous regulatory monitoring

 

What profile and skills are required for this environmental engineer position?

 

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of French and EU environmental regulations (WFD, Water Law, ICPE, etc.)
  • Proficiency in GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS), acoustic software, and hydrological modeling
  • Solid understanding of natural environment management and acoustics

 

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent writing skills and ability to synthesize information
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team spirit
  • Ability to work in project mode and lead meetings

 

Profile:

  • Engineering degree or Master’s degree in environment, ecology, or hydrology
  • Minimum 7 years of experience, ideally on linear infrastructure projects
  • Fluent in French – Professional English preferred
