In what structure will you be working as a Cost Controller?


We are looking for a Cost Controller for our client specializing in the nuclear sector.
 
 
Cost Controller: What will your duties and responsibilities be? 
 
As a Cost Controller, you will establish the projected cost of the project, monitor commitments in relation to the project, and ensure compliance. You will analyze variances and risks and propose corrective solutions to project management.

In this context, your main tasks are:
Estimating costs upstream of a project
•Implementing methodologies for calculating the costs of a given project, as well as dashboards for monitoring costs once the project has started.
•Establishing the various budgets required to complete a project based on estimates plus recovery from the various trades (engineering hours and subcontractors (design office, construction, and testing)), and deducting the appropriate provisions and reserves for each project.
•Identify cost items at risk of exceeding budget and establish procedures and recommendations in the event of problems being observed.
Project cost control
•Monitor budget developments and provisions for various ongoing projects.
•Regularly calculate costs already incurred in the project and verify their contractual compliance.
•Monitor costs related to subcontracting, engineering costs, etc., and produce cost reports.
•Review and examine the remaining expenses inherent to each project.
•Be able to explain the differences between planned and actual costs.
•Translate contractual changes occurring during projects into concrete impacts on costs and budgets.

Cost control and organization
•Propose corrective actions in the event of budget overruns and monitor implementation.
•Identify future costs that are unforeseen and not included in the budgets.
•Alert on possible budget overruns and implement a corrective action plan.
•Produce regular reports (internal and external) on the costs of each project and the status of reserves and provisions.
•Act as a liaison between the project manager(s) and the various project teams, service providers, and project departments (construction, testing, supply chain).
•Establish an EVM link between costs and scheduling.

 
What profile and skills are required for this Cost Controller position?
Technical skills:
Specific knowledge in the field of engineering
• Networking and organizational skills in the relevant field (architecture, HVAC, IEG, processes, mechanics, process engineering, construction/manufacturing, and assembly, etc.)
Project management assistance in project scoping
• Analyzing customer requests, needs, risks, and opportunities for the project
Risk management
• Manage project risks (qualitative, budgetary, contractual, and scheduling)
• Ensure the level of risk coverage for a company, project, etc. (insurance, action plans, etc.)
Budgetary, financial, and economic management
• Estimate costs (development, launch, etc.) and evaluate prices
• Develop, optimize, and monitor budgets (cost control, budget monitoring, etc.)
• Have knowledge of taxation, insurance, and accounting
Software proficiency
• Be proficient in office software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.)
English 
• Use technical vocabulary in English
• Understand technical documentation in English
• Write deliverables, notes, emails, etc. in English as required to carry out activities
Education
Minimum education level required
• Two- or three-year technical degree in construction economics or professional bachelor's degree with training in cost control
• Five-year degree:
• Specialized master's degree in management control or accounting
• Business school degree with a specialization in project management, finance, etc.
• Engineering school degree
Minimum experience required
More than 10 years.
Technical skills
•Knowledge of the company's specific expertise in order to perform the work of a cost controller (most commonly used techniques, commonly used cost calculation methods, etc.)
•Skills in taxation, accounting, and finance to support budget analysis and provide support
•Skills in project management and/or project management to assist and understand the needs of the project manager
•Ability to assess the risks involved in a project
•Proficiency in office software (Office suite). Proficiency in specialized software (SAP, etc.) is sometimes recommended
•Proficiency in English in order to understand technical documentation
