What kind of company will you be joining as a field service engineer – Marine?
We are recruiting for one of our industrial clients a field service engineer – Marine, to provide technical support, maintenance, commissioning, and training on marine generators across the Asia-Pacific and Southeast Asia regions.
Field service engineer – Marine: what will your responsibilities be?
As a Field Service Engineer specializing in the marine sector, you will be responsible for commissioning, diagnostics, and repair of marine generators, while also delivering after-sales technical support and training to distributors and end users.
Your main duties will include:
Customer support and on-site operations:
- Provide 24/7 technical on-call support and emergency intervention
- Perform commissioning, on-site training, and preventive or corrective maintenance
- Handle product failure-related customer complaints and ensure proper follow-up
Diagnostics and troubleshooting:
- Identify root causes of malfunctions and propose effective solutions
- Assess damage in the context of warranty claims
- Generate clear and well-structured service reports
Customer relations and quality follow-up:
- Maintain strong, trust-based relationships with clients and distributors until resolution
- Provide high-level after-sales support to ensure customer satisfaction
- Take part in continuous improvement initiatives related to products and service procedures
Training and documentation:
- Develop training materials for distributors and technical partners
- Ensure documentation and training manuals are kept up to date
- Train distributors on maintenance and diagnostic procedures
What profile and skills are needed for this field service engineer – Marine position?
Education: Degree or vocational diploma (Bac+2/3) in mechanical or electrical engineering
Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in maintenance or commissioning of marine generators or equipment
- Experience with electronic control systems (e.g. John Deere ECU, KDI ECU, synchronization systems) is a plus
Technical skills:
- Strong understanding of marine power generation systems
- Knowledge of control systems, power electronics, and automation
- Ability to write customer-oriented and clear technical reports
Personal qualities:
- Strong customer focus and service mindset
- Autonomy, analytical thinking, and good stress management
- Ability to prioritize tasks in an international work environment
- Team spirit and a drive for continuous improvement
Languages: Fluent professional English required
Mission details:
- Geographical scope: Asia-Pacific / Southeast Asia (frequent travel)
- Contract type: Permanent position or long-term assignment
- Reporting to: Aftermarket & Service Training Manager
- Stakeholders: End customers, distributors, technical teams (Asia, Europe, US)
