Job ref 4648-24 / Energy
In what structure will you be working as a Mechanical Calculation Engineer - Pipe Supports ?
We are looking for a Mechanical Calculation Engineer - Pipe Supports for one of our clients in the energy sector (gas), based in Charenton-le-Pont (FR-94).
Mechanical Calculation Engineer - Pipe Supports: What will your duties and responsibilities be ?
Your main objective will be to continue a series of finite element calculations already initiated on pipe supports in a cryogenic installation. To do this, you will learn the methods and tools for performing finite element mechanical strength studies for pipe supports by carrying out various test cases (analytical and 3D with healthy meshing) on simple structures under thermo-mechanical loads.
You will be responsible for the following activities:
- Modeling different types of pipe supports with Solidworks
- Performing finite element calculations with Solidworks to determine the allowable torsional stress and local stiffness for each type of support
- Documenting processes and writing technical reports
- Coding scripts with Solidworks
- Optimizing a finite element calculation methodology to verify the mechanical strength of pipe supports
Secondly, you will be responsible for piping calculations using CAESAR software in order to estimate the potential gains in terms of the forces generated by the piping on the support using local stiffness. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Performing mechanical dimensioning calculations for piping and associated supports using CAESAR software (flexibility studies, support calculations, equipment, etc.)
- Analyzing stresses on supports with and without local stiffness
What profile and skills are required for this position as Mechanical Calculation Engineer - Piping Support?
- You have a degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent, as well as at least 8 years of professional experience in calculations and design.
- You are fully proficient in Solidworks and CAESAR II.
- You have proven expertise in thermodynamic calculations using finite elements.
- You have strong writing skills, both for analysis reports and calculation notes.
- You speak English and French.
