What kind of structure will you be joining as a Senior Metering Engineer (M/F)?

 

We are looking for a Senior Metering Engineer for one of our clients, an international player in the oil and gas industry, based onshore in Rio de Janeiro, with regular interactions with offshore sites.

 

Senior Metering Engineer: What will your missions and responsibilities be?

 

As a Senior Metering Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, reliability, and performance of metering systems (metrology) for both onshore and offshore installations. You will oversee all phases, from engineering to maintenance, in compliance with Brazilian regulations (ANP/Inmetro) and international standards.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

Regulatory Follow-Up and Compliance:

 

• Ensure compliance with ANP/Inmetro standards (Joint Resolution No. 1/2013) and associated regulations.
• Lead regulatory and internal audits.
• Manage technical documentation in accordance with client and authority requirements.

 

Maintenance, Technical Support, and Supervision:

 

• Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance of metering systems (onshore & offshore).
• Provide technical support to metrology teams on-site and other departments (production, maintenance, HSE, etc.).
• Participate in failure analysis and implement corrective action plans.

 

Coordination and Project Management:

 

• Coordinate brownfield and greenfield projects related to metrology.
• Manage critical spare parts, tools, and consumables.
• Supervise the activities of metrology technicians and external contractors.

 

Technical Expertise and Innovation:

 

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the metrology management system.
• Propose innovative solutions in instrumentation, automation, and software (VBA, Python programming, etc.).
• Manage complex metering systems, including flow computers, liquid and gas flowmeters, PLCs, and HMIs.

 

Reporting and Analysis:

 

• Provide regular reports to the Metering Lead, including indicators, actions, and analyses.
• Ensure the traceability and recording of all produced data.

 

What profile and skills are required for this Senior Metering Engineer position?

 

Education: Engineering degree in mechatronics, mechanical, chemical, or equivalent. A master’s degree or postgraduate training is a plus.

 

Experience:

 

• Significant experience in metering system maintenance in the oil and gas industry.
• Experience with ANP/Inmetro audits or equivalent.
• Skills in instrumentation, automation, metrology, and data analysis.

 

Technical Skills:

 

• Strong knowledge of ISO standards (10012, 17025, 19011), as well as SAP, PI ProcessBook, and Office tools (especially Excel).
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks).
• Knowledge of flow computers (S600, FB407, Flow-X…), networks (Modbus, TCP/IP…), flowmeters (Altosonic, Micro Motion…), HMIs, and PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix).
