In which organization will you be working as a Senior Planner – Shutdowns?
We are looking for a Senior Planner specialized in technical shutdowns for one of our clients in the industrial sector, based in Toamasina (Madagascar). You will play a central role in planning, coordinating, and monitoring all activities related to major shutdowns of installations.
Senior Planner – Shutdowns: What will your missions and responsibilities be?
As a Senior Planner, you will be responsible for the complete construction of shutdown schedules, from defining work packages to the post-execution phase. You will also ensure interdisciplinary coordination, budget monitoring, and continuous improvement of the planning process.
Your main responsibilities include:
Development of Work Packages and Detailed Planning:
- Collect field data and consolidate technical scopes into clear work packages.
- Develop detailed schedules, including sequencing, resource allocation, and key milestones.
- Integrate collected scopes into the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Monitor the availability of spare parts, tools, and resources necessary for the shutdown.
- Actively participate in the execution of work, ensuring daily progress reporting.
- Collaborate closely with maintenance, engineering, production, and safety teams.
- Ensure schedule compliance with the company’s HSE standards.
- Propose and implement improvement measures based on feedback.
- Follow up on post-shutdown actions: remaining work, lessons learned, technical closure.
- Assist the Shutdown Manager in estimating costs by work package.
- Contribute to integrating the overall schedule with scheduling and project teams.
- Produce progress and KPI reports (costs, progress, efficiency, constraints, etc.).
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance planning or technical shutdowns.
- Proven experience in developing work packages and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Proficiency in CMMS tools (Infor EAM, SAP, etc.) and scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Strong skills in progress data analysis, resource coordination, and deadline management.
- In-depth knowledge of HSE constraints, industrial operational requirements, and shutdown priority management.
- Rigor, attention to detail, autonomy.
- Adaptability in a dynamic, multicultural environment.
- Excellent communication, listening, and inter-team collaboration skills.
- Focus on results and collective performance.
- Location: Ambatovy – Toamasina, Madagascar.
- Status: Expatriate or resident, depending on profile.
- Duration: Long-term mission with renewal possibilities.
