SSP Site Engineer – Earthworks, Shoring & Dredging

Focus: New works, contaminated earthworks, off-site remediation, and large-scale volume management.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Project Manager (Director of Works), you will lead major rehabilitation projects involving excavation in contaminated environments, the implementation of complex shoring systems, and sediment cleaning/dredging operations. You are responsible for evacuation logistics and ensuring the compliance of disposal outlets (exutories).

Key Responsibilities

Operational Execution:

  • Supervise earthworks operations (selective excavation based on the site management plan).

  • Manage interfaces for shoring works (Berlin walls, sheet piles, diaphragm walls) to secure excavations.

  • Lead lagoon cleaning or sediment dredging operations (managing dehydration and transport processes).

Subcontractor & Logistics Management:

  • Consult with and manage hauliers and landfill/treatment facilities.

  • Coordinate earthmoving teams and surveyors for bottom-of-excavation (base) validation.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Draft the Health & Safety Plan (PPSPS), Quality Assurance Plan (PAQ), and execution procedures.

  • Maintain strict traceability: monitoring Waste Tracking Forms (BSD), maintaining the excavation register, and daily evacuation reports.

  • Produce the End of Works Report (RFT), including formal verification of excavation walls and floors.
