In what environment will you work as a CMC Project Manager (M/F)?
We are recruiting, on behalf of one of our clients in the chemical/pharmaceutical industry, a CMC Project Manager (M/F) to be based in the Paris region (Île-de-France) as part of a 6-month consulting assignment, renewable.
Mission Context
As part of a major industrial transformation and relocation project, our client is looking to strengthen its project management team.
This strategic project requires close coordination between construction engineering teams and chemical and analytical development scientific teams. As a facilitator and key point of contact for CMC-related matters, you will act as the single interface responsible for aligning construction milestones with scientific and regulatory requirements.
CMC Project Manager (M/F): What will be your roles and responsibilities?
Reporting functionally to the Project Management team and working closely with the scientific teams, your responsibilities will be structured around four key areas:
- Strategic CMC Interface and Requirements Alignment
Identify, document and advocate for CMC scientific and regulatory requirements with the project management team.
Ensure that CMC constraints and requirements — including quality, compliance, budget and timelines — are incorporated from the design phase through execution, technology transfer and commissioning.
Ensure synchronization between construction activities and the CMC activity deployment schedule in order to guarantee full business continuity.
Actively participate in key decision-making milestones and governance meetings to ensure compliance with CMC requirements.
- Planning and Project Management
Contribute to the development and monitoring of the overall project schedule, accurately incorporating timelines for the transfer of existing equipment and the qualification of new equipment.
Actively participate in the management and monitoring of the CMC budget.
- Operational Coordination and Facilitation
Act as the single point of contact between the Project Director and CMC scientific leads.
Prioritize and effectively allocate deliverables requested from scientific teams in order to prevent workload overload and secure the critical path.
- Risk Management, Communication and Reporting
Analyze issues and roadblocks reported from the field and propose agile, appropriate technical and regulatory solutions.
Prepare progress reports for decision-making bodies (Steering Committees / Project Committees) and actively prepare key project milestones.
Escalate critical alerts to project sponsors in a structured and timely manner.
What profile and skills are required for this CMC Project Manager (M/F) position?
Experience
- Significant experience (5 to 10 years minimum) in cross-functional project management or activity coordination within the pharmaceutical industry, ideally involving laboratory relocation, technology transfer, or the commissioning of production facilities involving chemical engineering technologies or similar environments.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience managing complex interfaces between engineering and R&D / Regulatory functions.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent knowledge of pharmaceutical development and industrialization processes, including CMC requirements, regulatory requirements and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Strong command of project management methodologies, including Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), critical path planning, risk management and budget monitoring.
- Strong facilitator mindset, with diplomacy, influencing leadership, and a proven ability to bring together and manage priorities across multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior sponsors and project directors.
Education
- Master's degree (Bac+5 equivalent) in Chemical / Process Engineering, a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a PharmD / PhD in Pharmacy or a related field.
- A project management certification such as PMP or PRINCE2 would be an advantage.
